Volunteer Duties

Volunteers can:
When classes visit the library, they come for 30 minutes. As they enter, they return their books for check-in, then sit on the carpet for a read-aloud. Straighten shelves, check that books are in exact order, and dust as time permits.
Other tasks may be offered on an as needed basis.

Shelving GuidelinesPlease take your time. It is imperative to shelve items correctly.
When shelving, scan the shelf for misfiled books and put the shelf in order. If a book is in the wrong place, it's as good as lost! Ask for help if you are not sure where something goes. |
The Circulation DeskCheck in or renew all items before checking out new materials. Watch the screen during the transaction for accuracy and messages.
Kindergarten students may check out only one book. Students in 1st to 5th grade may check out 2 books. Students in 6th to 10th grade may check out 3 books. 11th and 12th grades may check out 3 books. Students are allowed one bookmark per visit, not one per book. Teachers may check out an unlimited number of items. |
